To Kill a Mockingbird is a great comparison since we’ve pretty much have all read it, and I really liked how you described how Tim O’Brien was feeling. The burden of killing a man will forever be on his shoulders, and so it’s understandable why O’Brien feels guilty. Great job!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6035428384495190662.post-64585858849127145182013-10-09T20:54:14.687-07:002013-10-09T20:54:14.687-07:00I really liked your concrete details; they definit...I really liked your concrete details; they definitely helped get your point across! I loved that book and guilt is a feeling present in many of the characters throughout that book.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6035428384495190662.post-3643824201770844092013-10-09T18:44:44.895-07:002013-10-09T18:44:44.895-07:00Turner, I really liked how you bridged the gap bet...Turner, I really liked how you bridged the gap between age. I think it is interesting how you pointed out that a young boy and a young man are experiencing the same kind of guilt, despite their age differences.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6035428384495190662.post-80122141283801456982013-10-08T20:14:56.244-07:002013-10-08T20:14:56.244-07:00I really liked the comparison you used with How to...I really liked the comparison you used with How to Kill a Mockingbird. I would have never thought of that, but now I can clearly see the connection between the two characters. It is interesting how both of them carry so much guilt with them, and especially how Tim thinks of what the man would have gone on to do in such great detail. Guilt is emotional brutality, and mutilation is physical brutality. Also, your comparison to "To Kill a Mockingbird" was interesting and unexpected. What I like most about this story is how Tim O'Brien later admits he did not kill the boy. O'Brien's story illustrates how gripping and disgusting the results of war can be, even if the event being described never happened. Your point about war bringing the worst out in people captures this well in that Tim O'Brien is shocked and depressed by his uncharacteristic behavior.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6035428384495190662.post-73707751489786092202013-10-08T07:42:26.559-07:002013-10-08T07:42:26.559-07:00The comparison between To Kill A Mockingbird and T...The comparison between To Kill A Mockingbird and The Man I Killed was really interesting, something I never would have thought of. Also, I liked how you analyzed what Tim O'Brien must have been thinking before, after and during the events that led him to kill the young Vietnamese man. Great job Turner!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
